Are you ready to get your sugar fix?
From the minute you walk into South Padre Island's Sugar Kingdom, you are engulfed with a circus of cotton candy-coated nostalgia. Going to the candy aisle was always something that I looked forward to as a child. In a Consumer Behavior class I took at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, my professor discussed in great detail the purpose for having candies at the lowest point on shelves was to aim at kids who could reach them! However, at Sugar Kingdom, you are able to walk among what appears to be an endless aisle after aisle of fudge, taffy, ice cream, popcorn, cotton candy, slushies, gourmet chocolate, and toys!
A really unique purchase I made was the Coconut Island Dark Chocolate Coco-Bites that were Key Lime flavored. The chocolates were individually wrapped. The employees are very knowledgeable on all things candy, too. I was greeted upon entry and asked if I needed any help or guidance in finding the perfect candy. I felt like an extra in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and all I wanted to do was belt out that Pure Imagination song.
After paying for my candies, I met the owner and he was very gracious. I look forward to coming in again with family and friends so that they can get the ultimate candy experience.
